Selling yourself has huge ick energy.


Does the thought of putting yourself forward for a job, or taking credit for a piece of work you’ve created make you want to duck underneath your desk, and stay there?

I know what that feels like.

But if you want to get noticed, and noticed by people who could really use what you have to offer to make their lives better, you better get used to that feeling.

Selling yourself has connotations of insincerity, and not without reason. But shouldn’t this all depend on what it is that you’re selling?

Be proud of what you bring to the table. Don’t batt away praise if it’s lavished on you.

Value your own work, so others will too.

Look at it this way - if you don’t, how will people be able to find you and what you can uniquely offer, in amongst all the noise that the cacophony of digital platforms brings?
